ARTIST STATEMENT

Hi, I’m Megha, a representational oil painter based out of Bangalore, India. I have been sketching and painting for as long as I can remember. I shifted to oil painting in 2016—what started as curiosity soon became a lifelong pursuit. Nature is my biggest source of inspiration as I constantly find myself drawn towards landscapes and the varied hues of scenery. My work explores a range of subjects painted in a realistic style. I’m especially drawn to landscapes, light, and the quiet drama of shifting tones and shadows.

I would love to hear from you if you’re interested in my work or want to inquire about commissions.
You can also reach me on social media either through FacebookInstagram or Pinterest where I post regular updates about my work.

BIO

I was born and brought up in Kolkata, India. I believe growing up in this city has played a huge role in shaping my artistic endeavours from a very young age. It’s where I started pursuing swimming, art and Hindustani music as hobbies.

Art has always been my pick among them since childhood, most of which I spent simply doodling and sketching for long hours. My early works are mostly sketches and watercolour works. After I finished college, my continued passion for art led me to embark upon greater challenges in the field, bringing me to where I am now.

Singing is another art form which I find very liberating. Having been a part of music clubs during my years of education, I enrolled myself for Hindustani music classes while I was in college, at AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory. I really cherish the time I spent there, as it provided me with exposure to professional music setups great music artists and teachers. More importantly, it opened up my mind to endless opportunities and helped me make incredible friends.

Around the end of my college years, I also started taking a keen interest in cooking as I am a big foodie. (Real Reason: I lived in a hostel and craved for good food at midnight) I started binge watching Youtube videos to try them out during my vacations, and before I knew it, I had cooked and posted over 60 recipes on Instagram! This made me start my own food blog where I post some of my favourite Indian and Italian recipes.

I love learning new things and constantly try to experiment and update myself in my chosen fields of art, music and food, of which art takes predominance. The entire process of painting gives me incredible peace and joy and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me.
